After migrating to the United States and having served in various churches, Pastor Rodney under God’s direction took the step of faith and launched the Bethel Holiness Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ (Apostolic) in July 2000. It was not an easy task as was easily just now said, but it took much prayer, fasting, sacrifice, direction and counsel. The ground floor of his home in Wynnefield, Philadelphia, PA was the starting point, with only his family of five and another family member. One can imagine that this was no easy task as the question of a church in this residential neighborhood sparked quite a controversy with residents and became the subject of destructive criticism at meetings. Nevertheless he preserved with much more fasting and prayer, encouragement and determination. For we believe that wherein God has required a task or has given a vision he also makes provision. (Gen. 22 v8). On the date of the first court hearing, God gave Bethel the victory and there was not one person present in court to oppose the proposal. The words of the scripture no doubt came to mind “where are those thine accusers?” As the years progressed so did Bethel, the Lord added to the Church continually. He did send “laborers into his vineyard” and is still sending.  I believe God hears and answers prayer, even at times when it is just a “thought” or a word uttered.  Bethel has stepped out in faith, growing from strength to strength through the enabling power and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have accomplished a lot in these years and pray to continue to be blessed by Almighty God.
